Active Needle


Medical devices, ultrasound, local anaesthesia, business development, investor readiness. 

The challenge

Active Needle was founded by RSE Enterprise Fellow Muhammad Sadiq to commercialise his ultrasound guided needle visualisation technology for biopsy and regional anaesthesia developed during his PhD at the University of Dundee.  We worked with Muhammad to help him refine his business plan and financial model and to develop his value proposition and investment pitch.

Our Solution

We mentored Muhammad in the development of his story and slide deck and began pitching to the Scottish angel community but the Active Needle IP was quickly acquired by Lightpoint Medical and spun out by them as Active Needle Technologies Ltd.  Muhammad accepted a role with them as senior project development engineer, a good outcome for him.

The Delivery

Executive support and mentoring.  Introductions to the investment community.  Support and participation in licensing negotiations with Dundee University and in pitching workshops and events.  Worked up business plan, slide decks and value proposition.
